I was really sad they day i tuned in and the station was off the air. I am FB pals with Ted Bell and he mentioned The Surf was on...I had no idea it had been back on the air since April...I am really glad it is back... As a College "Fessa" for MBA students it is really great to listen to my favorite tunes while grading research papers....Life is good once again...Keep shaggin'....

I love The Surf and keep all my radios (home and cars) on the station. You play the best beach and blues music. The last few days I can't pick it up at home except when riding in the car. It's just static. I live at the Georgetown/Horry County Line in Murrells Inlet. You were coming in great until a few days ago. Any ideas what the problem is and what can I do.

* * * from The Surf: We have been at a reduced power since Saturday. We are installing some new equipment and we are still making repairs from when the station was off the air earlier in the year. We'll be back to full power and booming into your neighborhood within just a day or so now.

I love the SURF and "beach music". Just wish I could pick it up on my radio while laying on the beach at Garden City. It just won't come in at all.
Jo 07-05-2011 06:33 pm
Glad to hear you play "Running in the Deep" and "Forget You". These are outstanding songs and both have a great Shag beat. I absolutely love Beach Music but it's also nice to hear songs from other genres that provide a good beat to Shag to. Thanks!!!

So glad to hear 94.9 is back up and running. I'll gladly bypass all of the other stations to find the great sounds of the Tams, Embers, Catalinas, Chairman of the Board, Craig Woolard Band, and the many others that connect me back to the wonderful world of Ocean Drive. Please keep your format rooted in this music. Wonderful times, wonderful place, wonderful people, and exceptional music!

We live in Fort Myers Fl and you have brought our connection to North Myrtle Beach back on the air. Thanks so very much. It is a 12 hr dr from here so we do not get up there to our favortie place to be too often. You have done a great service for a lot of people. Keep up the good work.

I've had you in my favorites list forever it seems. So glad I can put you on again and pretend I'm on vacation. I love your format and it needs to remain intact. Here in Louisville, Ky. we in The Derby City Bop Association are true fans of Beach, Shag & Blues Bop. Keep on keepin' on!

First and foremost, thanks for replying to my post. Like I said, I along with the majority of the listeners are thrilled that you're back on the air. So without trying to get arguementative with the station and it's format, I was just wondering where John Lennon's "give peace a chance" rank in the annals of Carolina Beach Music history? Cause I heard it last weekend. Couldn't really shag to that one.

***From the Surf: "Give Peace A Chance" is not in our playlist. It got played one time due to a labeling error in our music system.

Since my last comment wasn't posted,(too negative I guess). This one probably won't make it either. so here goes. Glad that the surf is back on the airwaves but not a real fan of the on air people esp "mumbles"deacon. Ted Bell is truly a professional. nothing bad about him. where are the former guys? Are these new people from wnmb? the new format sure sounds like it. 94.9 the "surf" all oldies all the time. not positive enough?

* * * from "The Surf" * Your comment may be proof that it is not possible to please everyone. We wish we could because we treasure every listener. As to where are the former guys, perhaps you mean former announcers. We hired Ted and he has performed superbly. We are proud of the overall response both Skipper and the Deacon have brought as well. All three of these guys have gotten fantastic response. As to our music, we play more Carolina Beach Music than anything else and more songs are added every day. The Surf is not WNMB and vice versa. WNMB is "oldies radio with songs from the Beach Boys to the Beatles. The Surf is Carolina Beach music and Beach music oldies. Each station has its own audience and its own strength in the marketplace. Thank you so much for commenting. If you listen, we believe you'll find The Surf is getting better every day.

I just clicked on the Surf site from my old favorites list. I am absolutely THRILLED!!! to hear you back on the air. We were at NMB twice during the winter and really missed this great station. Will be there for 2 weeks in July and can't wait to have 94.9 playing at the condo again. Keep up the great work! You are the best station on the air anywhere.
Robert 06-28-2011 08:38 pm
The comment from about the Deacon from Tony is not correct.I feel he is a breath of fresh air to the surf.Keep up the good work.
Steve 06-28-2011 03:23 pm
Great to hear your back on the air.I love tuning in when Deacon's on the air. Hearing his voice and unique sense of humor reminds me of his long history in broadcasing in the 70's and 80's in Myrtle Beach.
